COLOURFORM™ ‘V2’

A Colourform™ case study

PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES OF MOULDED FIBRE PACKAGING

We recognised that although brands all over the world use paper successfully in their packaging, moulded plastic is still widely used – typically as an inner packaging material. Why? Because more sustainable products have not yet provided a true alternative, especially when it comes to colour and quality.

Our mission was to change that, using our decades of expertise in paper making and converting, colour science and fibre innovation. We created a whole new manufacturing process and approach to product design that would enable us to use the natural, renewable ingredients of paper to create a sustainable alternative to plastic. One that would open up new creative potential and progress in packaging performance.

TESTING, TESTING

The evolution of COLOURFORM™ went through many stages of research and development. We brought together some of the most experienced professionals in the packaging industry to perfect our colour-matching and manufacturing techniques.

We customised our thermoforming machinery so that we really could enable brands to get the most from this new technology. And we challenged ourselves with various demonstrator projects – to prove to ourselves and our clients the enormous potential of COLOURFORM™.

THE ORIGINAL DEMONSTRATOR

We call this demonstrator our ‘V2’. We re-imagined the typical ‘packaging insert’ to show what we could achieve. We introduced a range of features into one design – from grip fit, de-nesting and product protection to precision text and logo embossing.

  • Bespoke colour match
  • Precision embossed branding
  • Uniform wall thickness
  • Easy stacking and de-nesting
  • Built in product retention features
  • Holes and cut-outs
